Please, tell us about yourself.

My name is Xenia Voloshko. I am 21. I am a Computer Science student. In 3 years, I am planning to become a front-end developer. The thing is that I have been interested in programming since the age of 15. Once it was my dream to develop a robot able to help people in measuring the level of water pollution.

My grandma lives in Eastern Europe near a beautiful lake. In my childhood I usually spent summers at her place. I know a lot about the ecosystem of the lake. Ecology has always been my passion.

They say that there are 3 basic skills required to become an IT rock star. I mean communication, resourcefulness and interest in helping others. Do you agree with it?

It is too early for me to boast of an expert opinion in this matter. But all the tasks that I managed to encounter during the internship in an IT firm were created in English. Most often developers work for companies from the USA. So, it is almost impossible to imagine a situation in which English is not needed for serious job tasks.

Most of my friends who are also Computer Science students study English 3-4 times a week. This allows them to quickly move up the stages of the language acquisition scale. This is very important for those who want to find a high-income job. After all, these days, in the resumes of the novice developers, you can often find English levels somewhere in between C1 and C2. One ought to learn a lot to be ready to understand your colleagues.

How often do you have English classes? Perhaps there are some tips that you could share with those who are just starting the path of a student? Sometimes it's so hard to choose the right direction.

My case is special. I had my first English class when I was 7. Every day at school I studied the language for 2-3 hours. We studied the history of Great Britain, corresponded with the British, and paid much attention to the study of US history. We watched English and American films and series. When I became a Computer Science student a friend of mine told me about eLang Extension. It is a promising tool which helps you to learn language with Netflix. I have always understood that language is forgotten if it is not used. And I had less and less time to devote to English polishing. I had a big workload at the university. At the time, I was also doing an internship at an IT company. eLang Extension has become a real rescue for me. In the evenings I usually just watched my favorite films in English with subtitles. It was enough for me not to forget the words and to enrich my current vocabulary. I advise everyone to try eLang Extension straightaway and use the opportunity to learn English with pleasure.

Can you name any handy features of the extension? Maybe there are some special aspects our readers should know about?

I can easily add a lot of words to my personal Vocabulary. It is handy as with time some expressions might get out of my memory. Plus, the extension gives the possibility to watch Netflix with dual subtitles in any language. This helps me to cheat my brain. I find learning as a game and at the same time I relax. It gives me the pleasure of learning words from the context without superfluous preparations. Literally while spending time on the sofa.

Slow repeat I must admit is a valuable feature, too. Sometimes actors and actresses speak so fast that you have to do your best to follow them. When you really want to minimize your efforts while keeping up with the dialogues you would better use slow repeat. It is a wonderful feature for beginners. Once you have gained experience, you can switch it off.

While you use the extension is it necessary to google the unknown words? I usually do it myself while preparing for my English classes.

No, forget about googling. It is just a new level of learning - you get a translation just in a click both in text and videos. You can add the extension for Chrome, Opera or Edge. All the options and features are natively clear.

Once the extension starts working for your success, just do not forget to spend an hour or two a day watching interesting movies or popular videos. And in a few months, the results will become visible. It's about context learning. You memorize the theme of the film, you learn the expressions of the main characters, you unconsciously begin to copy their pronunciation.

Does eLang Extension help you to improve your listening skills? I have heard that it is very important to be able to understand different English accents. How can you comment on such cases?

I might be ready to face different speakers. Sometimes it is especially hard to understand children.

The extension allows me to listen to various versions of pronunciation. It is valuable for those who work with bilinguals.

A friend of mine reads a lot of professional articles online. Can he use the eLang Extension?

For sure he can. With the extension your friend would have the possibility not only to translate all the unknown words on the spot. He will be able to save his translated words to his private Vocabulary.

Moreover, eLang Extension can be of great value for those who want to study a second language. For them it is enough to choose Polish, for example as the language for translation. I definitely recommend language learners to try eLang Extension, you will like it!
