Meet our awesome team! All the facts you have ever wanted to know about us.
English In Games is an IT company. We make games and apps which help students to learn English. Those who want to improve their language level usually use our products. Our mobile and online games are of great use among teachers of English. The company is registered in Poland.
Life is communication. We argue and make peace. We yell and whisper. We greet each other and say good-bye. And to tell you the truth this is just the tip of the iceberg. Communication allows us to convince our opponents, ask for help, build up creative teams, etc.
Our attitude towards communication is different. Some of my friends are ready to tell stories from morning to evening, others are mostly silent all the time. Communication came from the Latin verb “communicare”. Its meaning has not changed in centuries. It is “to have or make use of something with others”, as well as "to be in relation with". The noun “communication” is usually defined as the transmission or exchange of information.
But in reality, we transmit not only information. While communicating tête-à-tête people share their emotions. That is why I suppose we usually prefer personal meetings to phone calls, especially when the topic of conversation is really important for us. During the years of COVID-19, when millions were locked up in their homes for long months, we clearly realized the importance of live communication.
I can not say that I have always been a globally minded person. I am familiar with the routine of office work. But as soon as I started traveling, I realized how important it is to know the language of the country you are visiting, or at least English as a language of multinational communication. Globalization is inevitable. We all live on the same planet, but we speak different languages. We just don't understand each other. And I would be happy to change the world for the better.
I want to create apps that will help people erase the language barrier. This will be of great benefit. I hope that once dividing people into friends and foes according to the principle of shibboleth will be forgotten. Our descendants will know several languages reasonably well. Communication will become easier.
I am sure that even one small step in English learning is a big step on the way to human understanding. Learning could be as exciting as traveling. By the way, traveling is learning, too. It is easier to study when you do something you like. I speak about watching English or American films on YouTube or Netflix, for example. It is great when your classes natively become your pleasant pastime.
I have studied different teaching methods as a student. And now I know that it is fruitful to memorize words by clusters and to write a blog in order to activate your passive vocabulary. The article explaining the essence of context-dependent memory you can find here: Context-dependent memory in language learning
I believe that every person is a genius in his or her own way. And one of my main tasks is just to correctly define these hobbies. Some of my colleagues came to the office to start their career as QA-testers and finally became business analysts. Some came to me with the idea to fulfill the duties of marketer and now they are Project Managers.
I do my best to carefully evaluate a person's motivation and often offer him or her the opportunity to change the type of tasks. Sometimes we even change the colleague’s profession in accordance with his or her interests.
And it is a working method. In 2 years, we completed 17 projects. There are more than 19 employees in the company. I find it to be a brilliant start.
Yours sincerely, Siarhei Fedarenka
